UNIVERSITY OF READING

The University of Reading is a research-intensive institution recognised internationally for excellence in food, agriculture and animal science. In the UK Research Excellence Framework 2021, 86% of its research was rated world-leading or internationally excellent. With over 27,000 students and 4,500 staff from more than 160 countries, UREAD offers a highly international and interdisciplinary research environment spanning the entire food chain. The work in its School of Agriculture, Policy and Development advances sustainable livestock systems, nutrition and food quality through state-of-the-art facilities and strong national and global partnerships. The doctoral candidates at the University of Reading will investigate the use of food-industry co-products as sustainable feeds in dairy systems, assessing their impacts on animal performance, milk and cheese quality, and the life-cycle sustainability of these feeding practices within European livestock production.
